How to create an invoice

  1. Enter your business details and optionally upload your logo.
  2. Enter the client’s details, an invoice number, the invoice date and the due date.
  3. Add line items with a description, quantity and rate. Amounts and totals update automatically.
  4. Add a discount, tax/VAT, shipping and any amount already paid.
  5. Write payment details in the notes — bank account, payment link or mobile banking number — and download the PDF.

Your business details, notes and last invoice number are remembered in this browser, so your next invoice is quicker. The next number is suggested automatically.

What a professional invoice should include

  • The word “Invoice” and a unique invoice number — numbering must be sequential for accounting and tax.
  • Your name or business name, address and contact details (and your VAT/BIN or tax number if you are registered).
  • The client’s name and address.
  • Invoice date and due date or payment terms (for example “Net 14”).
  • A clear description of each product or service, with quantity, rate and amount.
  • Subtotal, tax, discounts and total in a stated currency.
  • How to pay — bank details, payment links or accepted methods.

Invoicing rules vary by country. In Bangladesh, VAT-registered businesses must issue the NBR’s prescribed VAT invoice (Mushak 6.3); in the UK and EU, VAT invoices need specific details. This generator is ideal for freelancers, small businesses and international clients, but check local requirements for tax invoices.

Tips to get paid faster

  • Invoice promptly — as soon as work is delivered.
  • Use short payment terms such as 7 or 14 days, and state them clearly.
  • Make paying easy: list every payment option, and add a QR code linking to a payment page.
  • Be specific in descriptions so the client’s accounts team can approve the invoice without questions.
  • Follow up politely on the due date, quoting the invoice number.
