How to convert PDF to Word

  1. Add your PDF by dropping it on the box or clicking to choose it.
  2. Decide whether each PDF page should start on a new Word page (on by default).
  3. Press Convert to Word. The text is read page by page and rebuilt as Word paragraphs and headings.
  4. Download the .docx and open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice Writer.

What the converter keeps

  • Paragraphs: lines that belong together are joined into flowing paragraphs, so text re-wraps naturally when you edit it. Words hyphenated at line ends are rejoined.
  • Headings: larger text becomes Word Heading 1 and Heading 2 styles, so the navigation pane and table of contents work.
  • Bold and italic text, font sizes, centered titles and bullet/numbered lines.
  • Page size of the original document (Letter, A4 and so on).

What it does not keep

PDF is a layout format — it records where each word sits on the page, not how a document is structured. Rebuilding complex layouts is never perfect. This converter focuses on getting clean, editable text. Images, tables with borders, multi-column magazine layouts and form fields are not recreated; table cells come through as tab-separated text. For an exact visual copy, keep the PDF; for reusing and editing the words, use the Word file.

Scanned PDFs

If a PDF is a scan or a photo of paper, it contains pictures of text rather than real text, so there is nothing to convert. The tool detects this and points you to the right workflow: convert the pages with PDF to JPG, then extract the words with Image to Text (OCR).

Is it private?

Yes. Many PDF converters upload your file to a server. This one reads the PDF with PDF.js and writes the Word document with JSZip inside your browser. Contracts, CVs and reports never leave your computer.

Tips

  • Need only the text? PDF to Text is faster and gives you plain text to copy.
  • After editing in Word, use File → Save As → PDF to create a new PDF, then compress it if it is large.
