How to convert PDF to JPG
- Choose your PDF. The number of pages is shown.
- Pick JPG or PNG. JPG gives smaller files and suits scanned documents and photos. PNG is lossless and best for pages with sharp text, diagrams or screenshots.
- Choose a resolution. 150 DPI is a good balance for sharing; 300 DPI is print quality.
- Optionally enter specific pages, such as
1-3, 5. - Press Convert to images. Download pages one by one, or all together as a ZIP.
What DPI should I choose?
DPI (dots per inch) controls how many pixels each inch of the page becomes. An A4 page is 8.27 × 11.69 inches, so:
| DPI | A4 image size | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 72 | 595 × 842 px | Thumbnails, quick previews |
| 150 | 1240 × 1754 px | WhatsApp, email, websites, social media |
| 220 | 1819 × 2572 px | Reading small text on large screens |
| 300 | 2481 × 3508 px | Printing, OCR, archiving |
Higher DPI means sharper images but larger files and more memory. On phones, 300 DPI for very long documents may be slow.
Why convert a PDF to images?
- Upload forms that only accept images — many portals want a certificate or document as JPG.
- Sharing on social media and chat apps, where images display instantly but PDFs need to be downloaded.
- Presentations and websites — insert a page as a picture into slides or a blog post.
- Thumbnails for a document library or product listing.
Good to know
Pages are rendered with PDF.js, the open-source PDF engine used by Firefox, so they look just as they do in a PDF reader. Transparent areas are filled with white for JPG. The images contain the page’s appearance only — text in an image is no longer selectable. If you need the text itself, use PDF to Text.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert only one page?
Yes. Type the page number in the Pages box, for example “3”.
JPG or PNG — which is better?
JPG makes smaller files and suits scans and photos. PNG keeps text and line drawings perfectly sharp but files are larger.
Is there a page limit?
No fixed limit. Very long documents at 300 DPI need a lot of memory; use 150 DPI or convert in parts on phones.
Will the images look exactly like the PDF?
Yes, in almost all cases. Pages are rendered with PDF.js, the engine used by Firefox. Rare fonts or advanced effects may differ slightly.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Pages are rendered by your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
