How to remove extra spaces

Fixing text copied from a PDF
When you copy a paragraph from a PDF, every visual line usually becomes a separate line in the pasted text — sentences are broken in odd places and words hyphenated across lines are split. Tick Join broken lines: single line breaks inside a paragraph are replaced with spaces, paragraph breaks (blank lines) are kept, and hyphenated words split at the end of a line are re-joined.
Invisible characters
Text from websites, Word documents and messaging apps often contains characters you cannot see: non-breaking spaces (U+00A0), zero-width spaces (U+200B) and byte-order marks. They can break search, sorting, spreadsheet formulas, form validation and code. “Fix invisible spaces” converts non-breaking spaces to normal spaces and removes zero-width characters.
Where clean text matters
- Spreadsheets and databases: “Dhaka” and “Dhaka ” are treated as different values. Trimming fixes lookups and duplicates.
- Publishing: double spaces after full stops are a typewriter habit; modern style guides use one.
- Code and data files: trailing whitespace and tabs cause noisy diffs and parsing errors.
- Forms and emails: clean, consistent text looks professional.
