How to create your signature
- Choose Draw to sign with your mouse, trackpad, stylus or finger, or Type to generate a signature from your name.
- Pick an ink color — black or blue look most natural on documents.
- When drawing, sign on the line. Use Undo to remove the last stroke or Clear to start again.
- Download the PNG. It is cropped tightly around your signature and has a transparent background, so it sits cleanly on top of any document.
Tips for a natural-looking signature
- On a computer, a trackpad or drawing tablet gives smoother lines than a mouse. On a phone, sign with your finger and turn the phone sideways for more room.
- Sign at a normal speed — slow, careful strokes look shaky. The pad smooths your lines automatically.
- Try a few times and keep the best one.
How to add your signature to a document
- Word / Google Docs: Insert → Image, choose the PNG, then set text wrapping to “In front of text” and drag it onto the signature line.
- PDF: most PDF readers (Adobe Acrobat Reader, macOS Preview, Microsoft Edge) let you place an image or signature on a PDF. You can also add the PNG to a page in Word and save as PDF.
- Email: for a professional sign-off with contact details, build one with the email signature generator.
Is an image signature legally valid?
In the United States (ESIGN Act and UETA), the UK, the EU (eIDAS) and many other countries, electronic signatures — including an image of your handwritten signature — are generally accepted for most everyday contracts and forms, as long as you intend to sign and the parties agree to do business electronically. Some documents, such as wills, certain property deeds and court filings, may need a wet-ink, witnessed or certified digital signature. When in doubt, check with the organization asking for your signature.
Keep your signature safe
Your signature is created entirely in your browser and never uploaded. Store the PNG somewhere secure and only insert it into documents you are actually signing.
