Etsy fees in 2026 (US sellers)
| Fee | Rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 | Each listing, renewed every 4 months or after each sale |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price + shipping + gift wrapping |
| Payment processing (US) | 3% + $0.25 | The total the buyer pays, including tax |
| Offsite Ads | 15% (12% for shops with $10,000+ annual sales) | Orders from Etsy’s external ads, capped at $100 per order |
| Etsy Plus (optional) | $10 per month | Subscription |
Payment processing rates differ by country (for example 4% + £0.20 in the UK), and some countries add a regulatory operating fee. Check Etsy’s Fees & Payments Policy for your shop’s location.
Example
A $35 item with $5 shipping: transaction fee 6.5% × $40 = $2.60, payment processing 3% × $40 + $0.25 = $1.45, listing fee $0.20. Total Etsy fees: $4.25 (about 10.6%). If it came from Offsite Ads, add 15% × $40 = $6.00 — total fees rise to over 25%.
How to price your Etsy products
A widely used handmade pricing approach is:
Price = (Materials + Labour + Overhead) × 2 for wholesale, × 2 again for retail
Whatever method you use, make sure the price covers fees. Because Etsy’s fees are a percentage of the price, the price needed for a target profit is:
Price = (Costs + Target profit + fixed fees) ÷ (1 − percentage fees)
The calculator does this for you in the target-profit box, including the possibility of an Offsite Ads sale if selected.
Tips to protect your margin
- Build Offsite Ads into your pricing — if your shop passes $10,000 in sales, participation becomes mandatory.
- Avoid very cheap items: the fixed $0.20 + $0.25 fees take a much bigger share of a $5 sale than a $50 sale.
- Offer multi-item discounts to increase order value.
- Charge realistic shipping, or include it in the price for “free shipping” — Etsy favours US listings with free shipping on orders over $35.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Etsy take per sale?
For a US seller, about 10% plus fixed fees: a $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee and 3% + $0.25 payment processing. Offsite Ads add 12–15% when they apply.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The transaction fee and payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge, not just the item price.
Can I opt out of Offsite Ads?
Shops with under $10,000 in sales over the past 12 months can opt out. Above that, participation is required at the 12% rate.
Why does the calculator ask for quantity?
The listing fee is charged per item sold, so an order of 3 items incurs 3 × $0.20 in listing renewal fees.
