| MP3 128 kbps | ≈ 1 MB | General listening, sharing |
| MP3 192 kbps | ≈ 1.4 MB | Music — near-transparent for most people |
| MP3 320 kbps | ≈ 2.4 MB | Highest MP3 quality |

Common conversions
- M4A to MP3: iPhone voice memos and many downloads use M4A (AAC). Converting to MP3 makes them play on older players, cars and some web forms.
- WAV to MP3: shrink large recordings by around 90% for sharing.
- OGG/OPUS to MP3: voice messages from WhatsApp and Telegram are often OPUS/OGG; convert them to MP3 to play anywhere. (Support for decoding OPUS depends on your browser.)
- FLAC to MP3: make lossless music files small enough for a phone.
A note on quality
Converting from one lossy format to another (for example AAC to MP3) re-compresses the sound, so use a generous bitrate such as 192 kbps. Converting to a higher bitrate than the source cannot add quality that isn’t there. For the best results, convert from the original, highest-quality file you have.
Want only part of a file? Use the Audio Cutter. Need the soundtrack of a video? Use Video to MP3.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert WhatsApp voice messages?
WhatsApp voice notes are OPUS in an OGG container. Chrome, Edge and Firefox can decode them; Safari support depends on the version.
Does converting to a higher bitrate improve quality?
No. It only makes the file bigger. Quality is limited by the original file.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes. Add several files and download them together as a ZIP.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Decoding and encoding run in your browser.
