How to convert video to MP3
- Choose a video file — MP4, MOV, WebM or M4V.
- Choose MP3 (and a bitrate) or WAV.
- The audio track is extracted and encoded automatically. Listen to it, then press Download.
What you can use it for
- Save the audio of a lecture, talk or meeting recording to listen to on the go.
- Extract a voice-over or music track from your own video project.
- Get the audio from a phone video to transcribe or edit.
- Make a podcast episode from a recorded video interview.
How it works
Your browser’s built-in media decoder reads the audio track from the video file, and the MP3 is created with the open-source LAME encoder running in JavaScript. Because nothing is uploaded, even large videos are processed without waiting for an upload — but the whole file is loaded into memory, so very long or very large videos (several GB) may fail on phones. For those, use a desktop browser.
Supported formats
Support depends on your browser’s codecs. MP4 videos with AAC audio (the most common format from phones and cameras) work in all modern browsers. WebM works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. MOV files from iPhones usually work. MKV and some professional formats may not be decodable in a browser; if a file fails, try converting it to MP4 first.
After extracting, you can trim the audio with the Audio Cutter.

Frequently asked questions
Can I convert YouTube videos with this?
No. The tool works with video files saved on your device. Downloading videos from YouTube may break its terms of service.
Why does my video fail to convert?
Your browser may not support the video’s audio codec, or the file has no audio track. Try an MP4 file, or a desktop version of Chrome.
Is there a size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but the whole video is read into memory. Files of a few hundred MB work on most computers.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
