How to build your resume
- Replace the example text with your own contact details, summary, work history, education and skills. The preview updates as you type.
- Write each achievement on its own line — they become bullet points automatically.
- Choose a template and accent color.
- Press Download PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog. Use Save data to keep a backup you can load and edit later.
Why ATS-friendly matters
Most companies screen applications with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) that reads your resume as text before a human sees it. Fancy layouts with text boxes, icons, tables and multiple columns often confuse these systems. This builder creates a single-column document with real, selectable text, standard section headings (Summary, Experience, Education, Skills) and a clean font — exactly what ATS software reads best.
Resume writing tips
- Lead with results, not duties. “Increased online sales 35% in 6 months” beats “Responsible for online sales.”
- Use numbers — revenue, percentages, team size, budgets, time saved.
- Start bullets with strong verbs: led, built, launched, grew, reduced, negotiated.
- Tailor it to each job. Mirror important keywords from the job description in your summary and skills.
- Keep it to one page if you have under 10 years of experience; two pages maximum otherwise.
- Leave out photos, date of birth, marital status and full street address — they are not expected in the US, UK, Canada or Australia and can introduce bias.
- Check length with the word counter: most strong one-page resumes are 400–650 words.
Resume vs CV
In the US and Canada a resume is a short, targeted summary (1–2 pages), while a CV is a longer academic record. In the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, “CV” is the everyday word for what Americans call a resume. This builder works for both.
Your data stays private
Unlike many “free” resume sites that ask for an account and then charge to download, this builder runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the PDF is yours with no watermark.
