Uses a standard Latin font — letters, numbers and common punctuation are supported.

How to watermark a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Type your watermark, such as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, SAMPLE, or a line like “Submitted to ABC Bank only — 05/11/2026”.
  3. Adjust the font size, colour, opacity and angle. A diagonal watermark at 20–30% opacity is visible but still lets people read the page.
  4. Choose Once, centred for a single stamp per page, or Tiled to repeat it across the whole page — harder to crop out.
  5. Press Add watermark to download the stamped PDF.

Why add a watermark?

  • Protect copies of ID documents. When you share a passport, NID or bank statement copy, a watermark stating who it is for and why (“For XYZ rental application only”) makes misuse much harder. Many security experts recommend this whenever you send identity documents.
  • Mark status: DRAFT, FINAL, APPROVED, VOID.
  • Show confidentiality on contracts, financials and internal reports.
  • Brand samples and previews of designs, ebooks or reports before payment.

Limitations to know

A watermark is a deterrent, not encryption. It is drawn as a layer on top of each page, and determined people with PDF-editing software can sometimes remove it. For stronger protection, combine a tiled watermark with sending only the pages that are needed — see Delete PDF Pages.

The watermark uses the standard Helvetica font built into every PDF reader, which supports Latin letters, numbers and common symbols. Bangla and other scripts are not supported by this font.

Frequently asked questions

Can the watermark be removed?

It is part of the page content, so it cannot be switched off in a normal PDF reader. Someone with advanced editing software may be able to remove it, so treat it as a deterrent.

Can I watermark only some pages?

This version stamps every page. To watermark some pages, split the PDF, watermark the part you need, then merge the parts again.

Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?

Not yet — this tool adds text watermarks. Image watermarks are planned.

Does the watermark hide the content?

At low opacity (15–30%) the page underneath stays readable. Increase the opacity for a stronger mark.

Is my document uploaded?

No. The watermark is added in your browser and the PDF never leaves your device.
